Embryonic Journey - Jorma Kaukonen
Tonight I am posting an ukulele arrangement of a great classic acoustic guitar tune from the late 60s. Embryonic Journey was recorded in 1967 by Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Ariplane. This one may be of interest to the many guitar players who have recently gravitated towards the 4-string ukulele. This arrangement makes use of a dropped first string G tuning as well a low G on the 4th string. Enjoy, as always, and I hope you find this arrangement useful.
Runaway - Gerald Ross
Today I am posting Gerald Ross' arrangement of the Del Shannon hit "Runaway". You might recall seeing the name Jon Prown on the transcription of James Hill's arrangement of "Ol Man River". I have sort of recruited Jon as my "partner-in-crime" here at Dominator Ukulele Tabs. We will be teaming up from time to time on some transcriptions and I will be posting some of Jon's solo efforts of some Americana and Folk tunes as well. This is in an effort to expand the type of material presented here at DUT.
Early on in the process Jon and I worked through a few parts together and then he forged ahead making contact with Gerald to hammer out the details of his unique playing style. Jon has done a superb job on this transcription and, as I mentioned above, you will be seeing more of his work in the near future.
A performance notes section has been included at the end of the pdf file to help explain some of the techniques Gerald uses that make up his unique playing style. The midi file gives a basis for how the overall song sounds but it is very important to listen closely to Gerald's recorded MP3 version to get a good feel for his syncopated style. I have provided a link to Gerald's MP3 below.
And a special thanks to Gerald for taking the time to answer our many emails etc. along the way.
