Crikey! I know Michael Powers. I had no inkling that he'd been lured over to the 4 string side.

Hi Dominator.
I love your tabs. You should team up with Aldrine G and put out Tabs for each of his lessons. Thanks and Aloha!

Great job, again! Song seems long but you did a good job. I needed to stop and replay some parts (but that's what is great about it).
Thanks

Hi Brad, yep, the spammers got to me while I was gone. Had a great time. It was pretty rainy most of the time but did have a couple of sunny days at the end. Got some video that I will get up later.

Hey Dom,

Looks like you are getting spammed.

Have fun on your trip and if you end up on the Big Island (things change) let me know.

Great work as always Dom.

It looks like the WCUF was a blast. Thanks again for inviting me to play, wish I could have made it.

Let me know if you are ever on my side of the ocean and lets get together and jam.

Hello! I would like to start by saying that your web site is pretty awsome. I have found your tabs to be very accurate and sound exactly how they are played by the artist. I have not been able to find well written tabs for Jake Shamabukuro's work. I really enjoy his music and would like to be able to play some of it at home. It would be greatly appretiated if you could send me a few songs. "Gently Wheeps" and "Dragon" are my favorits right now. Thanks.

Sharon,
I doubt that anyone would be making the trip from Illinois but you never know. You might try contacting the host of the event by visiting the website. I'm sure they will be happy to provide you all the information they can.

Can anyone tell me more about this and is anyone from IL going to the ukefest. I would love to go - I'm an avid baritone uke player (I know many folks aren't into the baritone but I love it) but I don't know a sole involved or anyone that might attend. Anyone out there want to share more info with me?

Knock 'em dead, Dom!

I keep hoping that one day I'll be asked to play at a fest. Probably need more practice. :-)

In response to: Jake Shimabukuro's - Piano Forte (Duet & Video)

dominator [Member]
Thanks Brad. Jon lives in Milwaukee. I wish he lived here. We would definitely work some stuff out together.

I know what you mean about people wanting to play like Jake. I don’t look at it from the standpoint of playing “like” Jake. I happen to like much of the material and that’s why I put so much work into them. But I never learned the 10 finger strum etc. because that is what makes Jake, Jake. So I leave that for him and just use the normal triplets in those instances where it is required.

Yep, Jake is using an Acoustic Matrix pickup.

Hi Dom,

It sounds good, the second track really adds to the effect. Does Jon live around here (our area)?

Good luck with the contest! I need to try and figure out the whole video thing, but every time I try and record I just blank out on what I'm supposed to say. So for now I guess I'll stick to writing lessons for people like me who live in the boonies and have slow internet... Plus, I don't know any Jake songs that I care to share. I think the only one I know is Gently Weeps - that's kind of sad. But everybody wants to play like him and I tend to shy away from the beaten path.

I got a copy of Jake's new CD. I was blown away at how good it sounded. All of those songs were recorded from a Fishman Matrix pickup??? Dang! I want some of that.

Take care,

Brad
